Moving to a mid-tier firm I didn’t know what to expect, but I honestly feel like I hit life’s jackpot. The culture, learning experiences and diverse range of projects have exceeded my expectations. In the time I’ve been with the firm I’ve been able to pursue my career ambitions – setting up a new service offering in Research and Development and progressing from Manager to Principal.

At William Buck, there is a real appreciation and utilisation of people’s skill sets, you are challenged to strengthen and develop new skills through knowledge-sharing and collaboration. The whole learning experience of setting up a specialist service-line has meant I’ve gained soft and technical skills through involvement with business development, marketing, recruitment, business strategy and building personal brand initiatives.  This cross-over with other teams is something I’ve not previously experienced.

The effect of this cross-divisional interaction has enabled me to grow and become a better advisor to my clients, because I can now have robust conversations outside the realm of research and develop, all in a positive and flexible environment.  My future lies in continuing to challenge myself by grasping the opportunities available and supporting our staff to progress their careers, as I have done.
