Moving to New Zealand from the small island country of the Maldives, I have been privileged to be presented with many opportunities both personally and professionally. It is my upbringing which has driven my desire to contribute to my community by using my skills to positively impact others.
William Buck’s ‘Changing Lives’ philosophy really resonated with me. During an interview, my now Director referred to the team as the tax whānau (family). It was then I realised that William Buck was not your typical accounting firm. The firm continues to exceed my expectations and really does feel like a whānau. No matter how busy things get, everyone genuinely cares for each other’s wellbeing and development.
I have now seen first-hand that the firm’s ‘Changing Lives’ philosophy is not just a tagline. It is something we live by, both in our work for our clients and with our colleagues. I’m regularly provided with opportunities to use my skills to change the lives of those around me. Seeing the positive impact, we have on our clients and in the community, is highly rewarding. My future lies in continuing to learn and progress my career, taking hold of every opportunity provided.
