Joshua Anderson

Getting into work that little bit earlier allows me to get up to date with any emails that have come in overnight or over the weekend and plan my day.

5.50 AM

I usually hop up early and get some exercise in, prior to starting work. My alarm goes off a bit earlier than usual this morning as I had decided to head to the Strand for a run.

Getting my exercise out of the way in the morning allows me to have the end of my day clear to deal with any urgent tasks that may arise throughout the day. Thankfully I organised my clothes, food and work bag the night before, and I can pretty much head straight out.

6.30 AM

It is about a 30-minute drive into the city where the Strand is. I park down the northern end and start my daily exercise. Usually, it is bustling with people however, this morning there was hardly anyone around.

.

7.30 AM

I arrive to work at 7:30am and have a quick shower before heading to the kitchen to grab a coffee and some toast for breakfast.

8.00 AM

Getting into work that little bit earlier allows me to get up to date with any emails that have come in overnight or over the weekend and plan my day. We all enjoy the festive season at my workplace and being Christmas time, we currently have some Christmas decorations up.

.

I start my day by actioning emails from my Workgroup Partner and drafting some responses to clients who have emailed overnight.

10.00 AM

Our workgroup and the Criminal Law workgroup currently have some matters that require documents to be filed with the Court today. I head over, firstly to the District Court Registry and then upstairs to the Supreme Court Registry to file the necessary documents. It is only a 2-minute walk from the office, making it a quick round trip.

.

10.15 AM

Back at work and I head back to preparing some investigation witness statements for a workplace bullying and harassment investigation that my Workgroup Partner is currently undertaking.

1.00 PM

A friend from University was admitted today and we organised to go to lunch with her as a congratulations for her admission. Some friends and I meet her down at our local café for the congratulatory lunch.

2.00 PM

Back to work and we have a conciliation conference as 3pm before the Fair Work Commission regarding an unfair dismissal application involving one of our clients. My Workgroup Partner and I sit down and go through all the necessary documentation and information for the conference.

2.30 PM

The client arrived approximately 30-minutes before the conference began to allow us to go through all documentation and information with the client prior to the conference. We all head into our conference room to discuss the matter prior to the conference commencing at 3pm.

.

5.15 PM

The conference ran slightly longer than anticipated and finishes up around 5:15pm. I head back to my office to finalise my file notes and time recording from the conference and the pre-conference meeting.

5.30 PM

After finishing all necessary notes from the conference, I head home for the afternoon.
