This course allows graduates from any discipline to undertake studies in law at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level including subjects in Global Business Law, Conflict Resolution and Public Interest Law. It will appeal to non-lawyers seeking legal skills in a specific area, but who do not wish to complete a Bachelor of Laws and seek admission to practice. It may also be used by overseas lawyers as a vehicle for admission to practice in Victoria (up to 120 credit points and subject to Council of Legal Education ruling, for which students must apply prior to admission). Whilst the program may be undertaken full-time, most students will enrol on a part-time basis because of prerequisite requirements. The course also provides a potential pathway into the Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) program or higher degree studies, and students who later transfer to the law program will generally receive advanced standing for law subjects already completed within this course. Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree or international equivalent. Applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree in a language other than English must submit an IELTS (or equivalent) test result with a minimum overall band score of 6. 5 with no individual band score less than 6. 0. Note: English test results must be no more than two years old. The course comprises subjects totalling 120 credit points, which does not include the compulsory subject LTU0AIM a not-for-credit subject you are required to complete at the commencement of your first semester. The subject is designed to enhance your knowledge and awareness of issues concerning academic integrity. Graduates who do not have a Bachelor of Laws degree from Australia may be required to complete an introductory Bachelor of Laws subject, Legal Institutions and Methods (LAW1LIM) or its LLM equivalent (LAW5CLM) Common Law System and the Australian Legal System.
