A bit about REA

REA Group is one of the world’s largest property and lifestyle media companies. Best known in Australia for realestate.com.au, the market leading property site in the country, we’re also a fast-growing global business spanning four continents.  People use our sites and apps when finding a place to rent or buy, as well as for inspiration, renovation ideas, and to better understand their neighbourhoods and the property market. From our humble beginnings in a Melbourne garage more than 20 years ago, to a global company helping reimagine digital property experiences; we have played a key role in shaping the digital sector in Australia, especially in the talent we have nurtured and continue to develop.

Values we live by

How we do our work is equally important as what we do. You'll feel it as soon as you join the REA family, our values role modelled by our leaders, lived by our people and felt by our customers, consumers and communities.  We are looking for someone who can:

  • Re-imagine it
  • Own it
  • Do it with heart
  • Inspire it
  • Do it as a team
  • Keep it real

We encourage our people to find ways to deliberately practice these values in how you show up and how you go about what you do every day.

What the role is all about:

We’re looking for talented grads wanting to work with a bunch of legends to make the impossible possible. Software Development is a huge part of our culture and although the company has grown in size, our staff still share a start-up mentality.

Our 12-month rotational Graduate Program will have you embedded in Agile teams where you will be exposed to all aspects of our technology business with a focus on software development. The aim of our graduate program is to mentor, coach and develop you by giving you opportunities to learn relevant skills.

Life at REA as a Software Developer and Engineering Grad is diverse. You will gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, languages & best practices like modern Ruby and Functional Programming with Scala. You will learn about new and emerging practices like Test Driven Development (TDD) and work on a range of projects from new web and mobile apps & products to core teams like Data Services and getting exposure to our DevOps teams working on AWS architecture and CI/CD pipelines.

Our range of benefits ensure we hire and retain great talent:

  • Inventorship Days so you can bring your ideas to life.
  • Freedom and flexibility to pursue different tech interests
  • Dedicated learning time, individual coaching, and support to help you develop
  • A day off for volunteer leave, to ensure you have the opportunity to give back to your community.
  • An Employee Community Grants program to show you that we care about your community just as much as you do.
  • Birthday leave. That’s right, you should be able to celebrate that special day off every year.
  • Onsite health and wellbeing programs, including weekly massages.
  • Dedicated dog room where you can book in your furry friend to work alongside you for the day.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for that special spark! People with passion and values that mirror our own. You’re also a good fit if you’re hungry to learn new programming languages and technologies. In this sense, we’re looking for:

  • Someone who can apply deep analytical thinking to solve complex problems
  • You love writing code
  • You have innate curiosity and a love of learning
  • You are driven to do something which makes a difference - i.e. get that product shipped!
  • You have recently completed or will complete before February 2022, a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a technical boot camp
