The Opportunity

We are looking for a graduate from within the Geosciences study field who has specialised in hydrogeological systems.

This role will be included in our graduate program which is designed to provide you with the opportunities to develop your skills foundation and gain exposure in real world environments that prepares you for career success.

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity that will see you working across a variety of project initiatives within Western Australia, contributing to the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects to the rest of the business. As the role sits within the Iron Ore business unit, there are opportunities to gain site exposure covering a multitude of real time impacts that are key factors to our sustainability in to the future.

Reporting to the Principal Hydrogeologist you can expect to gain operational experience over the two year graduate programme, with a structured and planned development strategy to ensure that you get exposure to all the tasks expected of a Hydrogeologist Professional within Rio Tinto. Our current initiatives focusses on applied hydrogeology including drilling programs, conceptual models, hydrochemistry, isotope hydrology and writing up results in technical reports.

What you will need for this role

To be successful in this role, you must be;

  • Pursing a Bachelors or equivalent within Geosciences being Hydrogeology – studies to have been completed by end 2017
  • Having demonstrated exposure to site environments within a related heavy industry
  • Possessing excellent communication skills with an ability to write engaging content and convey key messages clearly and concise
  • Able to undertake a fly in/fly out or residential role, with various site locations possible
