Who are we?

SLB is the world's leading technology supplier, integrating project management and information solutions for customers working in the energy industry worldwide.

The Position:

An internship is your opportunity to understand how we work and whether our culture is right for you. It’s also your chance to show us you have the right skills and attitude to succeed here. Our internships are paid positions and last a few months to a whole year—offering opportunities to use what you’ve learned at university on real projects.

Our Field Engineer Internships offer a unique chance to see whether a Field Engineer position is a job for you by allowing you to learn about SLB operations, particularly within the individual segment you have been assigned for your work period.

You will also be exposed to the SLB way of life. During your internship period, you will be assigned a mentor and will be required to complete the tasks, as well as additional tasks that are given to you later by the mentor/manager. You will be required to assist the Schlumberger APG Engineers and Specialists at the well site or workshop bases, focusing on the energy, O&G, CCS and SNE business, tools and services specific to the assigned business line.

Successful Field Engineer Interns take the initiative to learn as much as possible about the job, the technology and, most importantly, the lifestyle.

They are eager to learn, use logic to solve problems, and are personally committed to continuous improvement.

Duties required for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the operation, preparation and maintenance to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Spend time with sales and visiting other SLB segments to aid in your understanding of how SLB and the energy industry operate.
  • Complete SLB segment pre-school iLearn training
  • Present a special technical project towards the end of the training, along with the submission of a supporting final report.
  • Exposure to the fundamentals of the oil and gas industry while working in the workshop & field (as applicable)
  • Prepare a weekly report on the activities completed during the week
  • Attend a weekly HSE and/or a safety meeting at the location/Geomarket
  • Participate in QHSE reporting (RIR and OI)
  • Complete workshop tasks such as helping out with maintenance on the equipment and/or tools
  • Assist other Field Engineers and Technicians in conducting jobs at the well-site and participate in the day-to-day job operation

There are several characteristics and skills that successful Field Engineer Interns share. We're looking for people who have:

  • An active interest in promoting a safe working environment
  • A proactive approach to sharing best practices
  • Resilience under pressure and ability to identify priorities
  • The ability to work autonomously, self-manage and use initiative
  • Understanding the need to comply with company policies, including Personnel, Quality systems and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English

If you are working towards a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Engineering in your penultimate year, are a team player, highly motivated and ambitious, consider applying for an internship with SLB.

The internship runs continuously for 10-12 weeks during the summer break between November 2024 to February 2025 in Perth, Moomba, Toowoomba and Roma.

Based on performance, there is also the opportunity for the candidate to be offered a Field Engineer Graduate position after completing their university degree. As a permanent employee with SLB, you will enjoy an exciting international career in a dynamic company, rewarding career opportunities and an attractive compensation package.

SLB is an equal employment opportunity employer. Qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability or veteran status. We are committed to providing employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Only successful applicants that meet the above criteria will be contacted. We reserve the right to commence recruitment proceedings before the stated closing date.
