We are a globally diversified mining and metals company with operations in Australia, South Africa and South America. Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, securities for South32 trade on three exchanges, the Australian Securities exchange (ASX), Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE).

Our purpose is to make a difference by developing natural resources, improving people's lives now and for generations to come.

Our people are central to our success and demonstrate our determination to be a best-in-class operator. We aspire to be an inclusive organisation, where our workforce reflects the broader demographic of the countries and communities where we operate.

Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company (TEMCO) is Australia's only ferro-alloy producer, operating four arc furnaces and a Sinter Plant to produce high-carbon ferromanganese, silicomanganese and sinter.

TEMCO is located at Bell Bay, 50km north of Launceston and 4km from George Town, on the beautiful Tamar River in Tasmania. Tasmania offers a unique lifestyle choice with short commute times, easy access to a wide range of leisure activities, affordable housing, well-regarded schools, a vibrant cultural and sporting scene and welcoming communities.

We attract people with exceptional skills, who share our values and want to make a difference with the work they do. As part of our team you will be brave enough to challenge yourself to be the best in what you do. We will help you stretch your capabilities, challenging you to constantly seek better ways to do things and taking advantage of every opportunity to kick-start your career. If this sounds like you, we want you to join us as an Undergraduate for the summer of 2018/19.

Our program runs from the 3rd December 2018 to the 22nd February 2019. You will be challenged and offered unique opportunities to:

  • Learn and excel in your day to day work, supported by passionate leaders
  • Gain exposure to world-class operations
  • Undertake a project relevant to your degree that you will own and deliver
  • Grow personally and professionally in a dynamic, inclusive and supportive culture
  • Extend your network with global colleagues
  • Our Vacation Program is a pathway to the 2020 Graduate Program

We're targeting penultimate year students for roles based at our TEMCO site in Tasmania who have studied:

  • Environmental Engineering
  • Occupational Health, Safety and Environment

You will need to be in your penultimate year, set to graduate by December 2019, of a relevant university course and have the right to live and work in Australia. You will be willing to complete a medical assessment and available to participate in interviews onsite in September, commencing work for a 12 week period from the 3rd December. You will be based in the Bell Bay region for the duration of your vacation program.

We are always seeking people who share our values to join our team. Our people are fundamental to our success. We're focused on creating an inclusive workplace, with the right people in the right roles, who are engaged, empowered and appropriately rewarded.

We look forward to receiving your application and exploring this opportunity with you very soon.
