Teach For Australia is pleased to announce our three-day School Taster Experience. During these three days (28-30 November), you'll get an understanding of what it's like to lead a classroom by working with teachers to share your skills and inspire students. We have no doubt that they'll inspire you too.

What's more, you could finish this three-day experience with a pathway to join our Leadership Development Program in 2021.

You'll be prepared for the challenge by attending interactive, skills-based workshops and you'll have the support of your fellow participants, Teach For Australia program Alumni as well as the Recruitment Team. You'll also travel to one of our partner schools in regional Victoria and experience what it's like to live and work in one of our most exciting (and naturally beautiful) community environments.

What to expect:

Day 1

The experience starts with a day of training and personal development. You will attend leadership workshops with our team. Through these workshops, as you prepare to work with students, you will develop skills in:

  • Relationship-building;
  • Motivating others; and
  • Teamwork.

Day 2

You will spend day two in classrooms, meeting teachers (many of whom are Alumni of the Leadership Development Program), observing lessons and working with students to improve their aspirations and academic achievement. You'll start to make a real impact on the young people you meet.

Day 3

On the third morning, you will spend some time in the community, experiencing some of the local sights and getting a sense of the community: its strengths, as well as the issues it faces. And, before you return home, we'll come back together to reflect on your experience and find out how you can get a head start towards your application for the Leadership Development Program.

All transport, food and accommodation costs will be covered.

I love seeing or hearing all the strange and wonderful things kids do when they don’t think you are watching.

You are an adviser, a counsellor, a cheerleader, a boundary-setter, and on any given day you can be both the best and worst person in the world (if your students had any say, that is!).
