  • Our Financial Markets business is a leading provider of financial solutions across foreign exchange, interest rates, credit and commodities markets. While we live and breathe Australian and New Zealand markets, we do so within a global framework so you will get exposure to our multinational teams based in London, New York and Asia.
  • Helping our customers is the centre of what we do. We deliver thought leadership and market insights to help customers understand, pre-empt and make the most of change, and support their transactional needs with market access and efficient execution.
  • Our customer base is diverse. We have relationships with Australasia's largest corporate and financial institutions, as well as global corporates, fund managers, insurance companies and banks. At the same time, we also help thousands of small and medium-sized businesses manage their financial risks.
  • Our Treasury team provide market-leading funding, liquidity and risk management of Westpac's balance sheet, enabling all Westpac businesses to service their customers.

Program Structure:

10 Week Summer Internship

How your Summer could be spent

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to work closely with one or more of our Financial Markets and Group Treasury teams across a range of businesses including sales, trading, e-commerce, product & structuring and market strategy.

You will receive on-the-job training, including regular lunch and learn sessions from our product specialists while contributing to business unit projects and assisting the team in managing client transactions or risk positions.

You will also benefit from a dedicated Graduate Manager who is a senior professional within financial markets and responsible for your placement and learning program during your internship. You will also have the support of a Placement Manager who will provide coaching and support for your on-the-job learning. We will also allocate you a buddy from one of the recent graduate programs.

Future career opportunities

The Financial Markets Intern Program provides exposure to Trading, Sales, Research, Structuring and E-Commerce roles across the Financial Markets and Group Treasury. As an intern, you will be offered the opportunity to position yourself for future graduate roles. Our Interns could work in roles within:
