The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) is a national not-for-profit organisation and the principal advocate and peak representative body for the $1.2 trillion profit-to-member superannuation sector.
Profit-to-member superannuation funds are set up to return profits to members only and always put members’ best interests first.
The Super Grads program is a 12-month initiative, which has been run by AIST since 2004. Designed to identify and fast track the next generation of leaders in the superannuation sector, graduates who have successfully completed the program are widely regarded as highly-accomplished and successful individuals within the industry.
Beginning in February, successful applicants will be employed by an AIST member organisation eg Cbus, CareSuper, NGS Super and IFM Investors, where they will develop a range of skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, negotiation, problem-solving, critical thinking and resilience. In addition, Super Grads will improve their technical knowledge as well as the importance of the profit-to-member ethos.
Through AIST, Super Grads will also be exposed to significant learning opportunities including training, attendance to our major annual conference, two residential retreats, formal mentoring, career development planning and educational seminars.
Graduates can come from a broad cross-section of disciplines including finance, law and marketing to name a few. Over the years the Super Grads have moved into various leadership positions ranging from Executive Manager, Campaign Manager, Client Relationship Manager, Media Specialist and more!
The overall purpose of the Super Grads program is to ensure the successful development of future leaders who are genuinely committed to making a difference in the profit-to-member super industry.
