Culture at BlackRock Australia

8.5
8.5 rating for Culture, based on 2 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
VERY diverse company, supportive of women with many initiatives, big focus on sustainability and providing for the community. There is also a relatively flat hierarchy, lots of mentoring opportunities, drinks on Fridays and all around great culture.

The company has a very collaborative culture, you can expect to regularly be working with people across teams. Hierarchy is respected but I have found the social structure of the firm to be less rigid (a benefit of a smaller office). I have found senior people in the company are very open to providing insights into the business units, particularly to new starters. I have found that people's input into projects is encouraged regardless of their seniority. The company has a number of social programmes including sports clubs, monthly birthday celebrations and weekly office drinks. Joining a graduate analyst, we're paired with previous grads to share their experience and answer any questions that come with settling into a new company.

The culture at BlackRock is an area that has really stood out to me. I love the focus on diversity, the team is very collaborative and everyone is really willing to help each other out. I was only in the office for about a month and a half before COVID-19 hit and now have been WFH. I will say in that short time, I got to know a lot people which I think is a testament to the culture and have been able to maintain this even WFH.
