About your role:

  • Fixed term contracts

This is a high profile project, working closely with Department of Justice guidelines and procedures – be part of History!!
You will be performing regular mental health screens and providing mental health support for residents returning back to Victoria
You will be escalating mental health issues to superiors and at times public Mental Health Services (NWMHT or Austin)
You will need to be skilled in conducting MSE and Risk Ax
You will be working in a great supportive and innovating environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced clinical knowledge and skills to provide quality mental health services within your professional scope of practice.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document comprehensive care in accordance with evidence based best practice standards and HCA Values.
  • Conduct regular Mental State Examinations (MSE ) and Risk Assessments
  • Committed to meeting KPIs / Targets and allocated work in an effective and proactive manner
  • Knowledge of the Triage referrals to Public Mental Health Services covering our area ( NWMH CT and Alfred)
  • A clinician who embodies the HCA way; by putting people first, leading with kindness, working together so we can excel.
  • Ensure the safety of the public, patients and staff in relation to the provision of a safe environment from both OH&S and Infection Control Perspectives.
  • Complete all mandatory training as per policy and participate in organised training and development activities.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff.
  • Undertake mental, social and physical assessments that lead to recommendations for treatment.
  • Prepare short term care plans in collaboration with residents and their nominated support person(s).
  • Provide basic counselling and therapy to residents; within a timely manner.
  • Responsibility for maintaining state of the art knowledge of the mental health speciality.
  • Contribute to the training and development of direct care staff regarding mental health assessment and treatment.
  • Employees have a responsibility to deliver safe, timely, effective, person centred care.
  • Liaise with internal and external service providers as required
  • Treat everyone with kindness and compassion.

Criteria:

  • Territory qualification
  • Masters Degree - highly desirable
  • Must have public mental health experience
  • Current Police Check
  • WWCC
  • Full working rights
