Pros & Cons

  • I love working on interesting cases happening all over the world. I enjoy the fast-paced environment and variety of tasks every day. There is never a dull day and your work is having an immediate impact.
  • Good working environment, individual working and growth as an employee.
  • working 12 hour shifts then having lots of days off after - gives way for travelling which is something I value really highly. I also think the team are nice and good to work with. OPS managers at all levels are lovely too.
  • Sometimes the high workload can feel stressful and as is the nature of case work and the medical industry.
  • Some odd hours, as can be expected with true international companies
  • Sitting down for 13 hours, I would love to stand up!

There is definitely opportunity to move up within the role to senior, manager etc. There are a lot of colleagues that start within this role and then progress to other divisions within the company, as well as people that have used their experience in this role to move into mid-level roles in other companies.

Culture
This role is very teamwork dependent. You work not only with other people in your position, but also alongside nurses and doctors, security specialists and with management and medical directors. The structure is definitely hierarchal but collaborative: everyone's role and opinion feels heard. I really like the office culture. Everyone is friendly and social throughout the work day. A lot of employees from different personal and professional backgrounds. You also get to work a lot with other offices across the world. Since our office has relocated to the city and Covid restrictions have eased, after hours socialising has definitely picked up however often relies on self-motivation rather than company-led events.

Diversity
Quite diverse, everyone is different and has different backgrounds .We have an over 70% female-lead management team in ANZ, and an widely diverse team. There is no discrimination made based on anything but performance. Maternity leave is standard and return to work is never denied.

Engaging work. Day-to-day is managing cases and responding to new customer requests. My day involves answering and making phone calls & emails: speaking with members needing medical/security assistance, speaking with their employers, insurance companies and healthcare providers. Also booking appointments, writing reports, coordinating insurance payments and planning for medical movements

Our new office is in a very good location within the city - easy to get to with public transport and a lot of venues nearby. Dress code is business casual but not that strict.

Recruitment
Clear and professional . Directly related to job description and how to overcome any associated challenges. Someone from recruitment will call you and ask you a few questions: less-like an interview and more making sure that you understand the role and requirements. 3. The interview is made up of two halves: - Firstly you'll complete a short roleplay, typing test and comprehension. If they're satisfied with this, you'll then have an interview in the same day with your direct line managers.

Training
You are trained 8 weeks prior to starting in the role, and then given further training as you progress within the role, refreshers etc. There's also the opportunity some times to complete secondments in other roles within the company.

Work Hours

Work Hours
The standard is 13 hr shifts across a 7 day week which is usually 3 days a week. This allows a lot of flexibility throughout your work week - more days off a week; weekdays off to do other study/things, you can hack your annual leave etc. but the trade off is of course longer days and also requires you to work weekends (probably 2 a month on average). The other plus is, as its a case-focused job, you don't take your job home with you and are never expected to stay back.
