6.00 AM

My alarm goes off on Monday and then after snoozing it for the 10th time, I get up at 6.30 am. It’s rush hour in the house before I make my way out to the site.

8.00 AM

I get to work and it’s hustling and bustling on-site. There is a lot to do today including a very significant site inspection at midday. My day started with a walk around the site to see what the plan is for the day. I stopped here and there for some leisurely conversations with the trades about their weekend. As it is the first day of the week, all permits from last week are now invalid. I go around collecting the old permits and handing out new ones for the week.

9.00 AM

It’s yoghurt time! I take a mini brekky while going through my emails and tasks to do. Around this time, I usually plan my day. Today, my focus is on the site inspection at midday. I am going through the checklist and reviewing that all required works have been completed. Also, I scan the permits from the previous week and save them on our system, for our records.

11.00 AM

For the past hour, I was in a meeting with all the subcontractors. My task was to take notes for the minutes. The discussion revolved around the progress of the project and major milestones. After the meeting, I got started on writing up the minutes. I even snuck in a quick snack before the big inspection at midday!

12.00 PM

The project PCA was on site to inspect the areas ready for handover. I walked around the site with the client and the PCA. The inspection went well with few minor updates required before final approval. Everyone on site was in a celebratory mood! We all took the well-deserved lunch break. I bought lunch today and decided to join the team in the lunch room.

3.00 PM

The day has flown by. I spent the latter part of the day preparing training schedules for the clients, taking progress pictures on site and distributing the minutes from this morning’s subcontractor meeting.

5.00 PM

It’s home time! After a fairly busy and stressful day, it was now time to get in my car and head home for some tennis with my friends before prepping for tomorrow.
