Your role

EE college student needed for an EO/IR internship to restart, troubleshoot, and test a legacy laser radar (LADAR) system used for vehicle autonomy. The objective is to develop a high precision, high throughput LADAR system for autonomy by updating and modernizing legacy MFC LADAR system technology.

The new system will provide:

  • Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), with a path to practical applications for off-road autonomy,
  • Improved Autonomous system performance with integrated sensing electronics, such as Electro-Optical (EO) imaging, Infrared (IR) imaging, Radio Frequency (RF) sensing, and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)) as needed to support system functionality and accuracy.
  • Survive and perform in harsh land vehicle terrain and extreme weather.

About you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an interest in and exposure to electro-optic systems.
  • A foundation in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar programming or scripting language.
  • Knowledge of LiDAR/LADAR system architecture and important components.
  • Demonstrated test experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work onsite in a lab environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position will require the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Desired skills:

  • Relevant coursework in signals and digital system design
  • Prior lab experience utilizing oscilloscopes and waveform generators
  • Experience breadboarding hardware in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Experience with technical documentation, such as system requirements or design requirements
  • Active Secret Clearance
