Gender Equality at L'Oréal Australia and New Zealand

L'Oréal strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment for all employees, regardless of background

To drive Gender Equality within our business, we have 4 primary areas of focus:

  • Flexibility: informal and formal day-to-day arrangements regarding how, when and where our team members work and manage their lives. Ultimately, we want to make sure that we are a company that delivers excellent business outcomes and a workplace where everyone thrives.
  • Equal Parental leave: 14 weeks paid parental leave at the birth or adoption of a child, removing the distinction between primary and secondary carers so that regardless of gender, everyone has the same entitlement to leave.
  • Pay Equity: In 2020, L’Oréal worked closely with EDGE to implement a gender pay equity tool. This tool considers elements such as an individual’s gender, tenure, responsibility of role, and function within the business, to measure any unexplained gender pay equity gap and whether it is statistically significant or insignificant. The EDGE threshold for unexplained gender pay equity gaps is 4% and for 2020 we were well within this at 1.99%. Our aim is to lower this even further, to not see any pay equity gap across our business
  • Career pathways: We know that having gender equality at all levels of our business adds great value and powers innovation. This begins in the talent pipeline and recruitment process for all roles at L'Oréal Australia & New Zealand.

As a leadership team, our Man Com is committed to ensuring we provide access to all roles, and importantly, leadership roles, regardless of gender.

In Australia we have been EDGE certified since 2015. EDGE is an international certification for gender equity. It measures where organisations stand in terms of representation, pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices to ensure equitable career progression as well as an inclusive culture.

In Australia we also hold the Workplace Gender Equality Agency Employer of Choice citation. We have held this since 2019. WGEA is a government agency which is charged with promoting and improving gender equality in Australian workplaces.
