Disability Support at Policy Futures Graduate Program (Queensland Government)

We strongly encourage all candidates to apply for Policy Futures.

As the state's largest employer, we are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve. We're looking for graduates with a range of skills, backgrounds and lived experiences.

As part of this commitment, we are continuing to create workplaces where everyone feels safe, respected and valued. You’ll be valued for bringing your authentic self to work.

The Queensland Government is committed to increasing the representation and careers of people living with disability in government.  This commitment is underpinned by the Queensland public sector inclusion and diversity strategy 2021–2025 and our Disabling the barriers to employment in the Queensland public sector implementation plan 2022.

The recruitment process

Our recruitment process is inclusive and aims to provide all candidates the best opportunity to demonstrate suitability for the program.

Our disability pathway will be tailored to suit your individual needs. We’ll work closely with you to ensure you are fully supported from the moment you apply through to employment and beyond and provide tailored adjustments to ensure you can best demonstrate your suitability for the role.

Examples of adjustments we’ve provided in the past include:

  • A phone call to confirm your application details instead of completing our online form
  • A phone or virtual interview instead of a video interview
  • More time to complete assessments
  • Printed materials at our assessment centre
  • A quiet room for your individual interview

These are just some examples, but we will work with you to determine the most appropriate adjustments to suit your individual needs.

Support during employment

If you get into the program, we’ll chat to you before you commence to understand what adjustments and support you may need on the job. Workplace adjustments can be made to premises, facilities, work practices, or training. This might include:

  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Speech-recognition speech to text software
  • Additional training, mentoring, supervision and support
  • Screen magnification or reading software
  • Longer break times
  • Equipment, such as a specific chair, desk or mouse.

How to opt-in

If you wish to opt into this pathway, please complete the 2025 Policy Futures intake application form and select ‘yes’ to the question which asks if you have a disability/s.

If you’re unsure whether to opt in, get in touch by emailing [email protected] to arrange a confidential chat about how we can support you.
