Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
informal learning with access to premium resources. The only problem is that it is hard to find the right area that you want to be.
Graduate, Melbourne
There was no structure to the training that was given. It was quite vague and general, and leaders were not willing to put in efforts to tailor those even when asked to.

In terms of programming training, there is very little done by Telstra, they give access to external courses however. The courses given were more focused around the culture and proper practices at Telstra

I'm learning on the job. For training/learning purposes, we have access to learning platforms like LinkedIn Learning, O'Reilly, Cloud Guru, Awards Training Courses.

Most training is on-the-job training. The are numerous online training modules to complete, but many are irrelevant or repetitive (such as multiple soft-skills modules for the same/similar skill). Dedicated development and training for graduates does not really exist outside of area-specific requirements (although this is usually more like new employee training for everyone, not specifically graduates)
Graduate, Brisbane
Access to LinkedIn learning, company learning, plus guided support when doing the work.

Telstra values skills such as teamwork, collaboration, adaptability, and communication. The company offers excellent opportunities, including formal training sessions and workshops dedicated to enhancing these soft skills. Moreover, there is a wide selection of platforms available to employees for formal training, which not only aids in improving technical skills but also helps in honing soft skills.

LinkedIn learning, o Reilly platform has been good training to learn the tech that I need to use for my day-to-day work. The experience in my day to day also has been good training

There are too many unnecessary online modules way too frequently.

I had a 3-day induction, where I was told all about the company, the structure, the rewards and benefits, etc. They also have a wealth of online training to complete such as future ready courses and masterclasses, LinkedIn learning access, workday training. We have people development days once a month which is dedicated to development in your specific area/role. We have opportunities to participate in workshops or programs to further develop and practice our skills.

Training is getting better at Telstra. There are an overwhelming number of training resources and so it takes some time to sift through them. The last 6-12 months have seen an improvement in the organisation of resources, making onboarding much easier.
