UNIQLO is the leading brand of the Fast Retailing Group, the third-largest apparel retailer in the world. UNIQLO respects the individuality and lifestyle of all customers and takes pride in creating high quality, long-lasting, innovative clothing at an affordable price.
As UNIQLO continues to open new stores every year, hundreds of graduates around the globe join the “UNIQLO Management Candidate” program (UMC). Our Uniqlo Manager Candidate program is a year-long intensive retail master class, designed to equip you with the skills to qualify as a Store Manager.
Your journey will begin with the basics in our retail stores, working with our passionate managers and store team. We will support and guide you to develop the ability to commercially lead a business and manage a team with the customer experience at the forefront of all that you do. After the completion of the UMC program, you will become a true business leader, running a business autonomously and taking it to new heights.
You will work as a Customer Advisor in the store to master the UNIQLO shop-floor standards and processes which include RFID checkout, omnichannel services, customer service, fitting rooms, deliveries, replenishment and more! We believe that to be an effective leader, you must be a role model in these little yet important tasks to create a unique customer experience while gaining the trust of your team. Alongside the on-the-job training, you will discuss your career aspirations, learn from successful leaders who started as a UMC and participate in people management workshops.
Now that you are a UNIQLO shop floor master, you are ready for some managerial responsibilities! You will be expected to create and adapt the daily work schedule of your store team and provide training and feedback to achieve sales and customer satisfaction. You will start your operations management training and become responsible for inventory ordering and performance of a specific product category. In addition, you will work on a mind-stretching business project with a mentor, and meet the leaders of our different departments.
Your new responsibilities are to assist the Store Manager with all operational aspects of the store to maximise business performance: strategically create shop floor layouts, adapt weekly rotas based on sales targets, construct training plans to enhance efficiency and talent bench strength, daily audit the store presentation and take actions to achieve the highest level of standards. Take a field trip to gain exposure to the practices of a store management team outside of your country and apply your learnings in your store.
During your program, you will undertake examinations at certain checkpoints to evaluate your capabilities and knowledge to decide if you need more time to hone your skills or if you are ready to be the next in line to manage your multi-million revenue-making store. This means that individual progress may vary, and some candidates may take longer than 12 months to complete the program.
