The Telco industry is not for the faint-hearted. In Australia, Telco is dominated by large corporate entities where people are treated like a number and culture is stale. Vocus is everything but that! As Australia’s challenger telco we pride ourselves on our beginnings. Born out of frustration with the Australian Telco landscape, 2008 saw the inception of Vocus as a start-up delivering customer-centric telco solutions to Australian businesses on the East Coast. By the end of 2015, Vocus has listed on the ASX, merged with the M2 Group and expanded their footprint into New Zealand, acquired Amcom and NextGen to become Australia’s 4th largest telco. Our success at Vocus lies in our people and our vision is to be the challenger that our customers deserve, and our people are proud of every day.
We are an organisation of 1400 personalities. We play in the same markets as Telstra and Optus but have a flatter, leaner structure. We have spent money building our own networks that connect all Australian Capital cities and have invested heavily into the Australia Singapore Cable, The North West Cable connecting Mining Rigs in the waters off NW Australia and Regional backbone blackspots program and we are proud of our network.
Vocus has been on a journey of growth for many years and is not about to slow down anytime soon. As a result of many acquisitions, Vocus has developed a 3-year strategy to align and improve productivity across all departments. This has generated a buzz of activity in our Projects Office, IT and Support teams and had a positive flow-on effect to our customers. Coupled with our IT transformation we have a focus on Sales across all industries and business sizes.
We support small business through our Commander Channel and large enterprise business through Vocus Communications.
We are a forward-thinking, socially conscious organisation who actively gets involved in supporting regional and rural Australia. We are a founding member of Telco Together Foundation which unites Australian IT&T companies for the purpose of fundraising for key charities that support communities in need, focussing on mental health, homelessness, refugees and indigenous communities. We also know that our people like to make a difference locally and in their communities, so we offer all our team members 2 volunteer days per year to offer their time at an organisation or charity of their choice.
Vocus has a range of opportunities to offer Graduates and Interns across several disciplines.
Our intern program supports 2nd and 3rd-year students looking to get on the job experience working in their field of study. Managed through your university, we are happy to offer internships in our larger offices in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. We provide you with on the job training and exposure to day in the life experiences that help to shape your long term career decisions.
Our formal Grad program is currently under construction. We are working hard to create a 24-month program that will provide possible job outcomes in IT Networking, Project Management and Sales. Whilst we are busy building our formal program, we are open to looking at graduates for our entry-level roles such as:
We appreciate that as a graduate you may not yet have the depth of skills or experience, required to perform the full potential of a role but what you can bring is an attitude, a willingness to learn and drive and we will support you to succeed.
