Job Summary

  • 12 week program beginning Nov 12 through to Feb 8
  • Full time
  • Hobart based

Is this role for you?

  • To provide high quality paralegal support to TasNetworks' Legal Team, on a casual basis. In particular, to undertake legal research, assist with land acquisitions, property dealings and wayleaves searches, prepare minor civil claim applications and provide assistance with corporate governance matters.
  • Provide high quality paralegal assistance to TasNetworks' Legal Team and the Company Secretary and General Counsel, as required.
  • Manage competing priorities for self and the Legal Services Team within a fast paced environment.
  • Maintain effective relationships with all members of the Legal Services Team, TasNetworks' stakeholders and customers.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of applicable legislation including the Electricity Wayleaves and Easements Act, the Land Acquisition Act and the Magistrates Court (Civil Division) Act.

What does success look like?

  • Bachelor of Laws (or combined degree) student in penultimate or final year of study.
  • Strong research and analytical skills,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and proven editing and report writing experience
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously, manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • A positive and proactive mindset
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of relevant software applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
  • High level of computer skills
