After spending months looking into the wide range of graduate programs available in the financial industry, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank offered a unique opportunity that not many others matched. The graduate program at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank offered me a tailored 2 year program that not only suited my individual skillset, but gave me the extensive exposure to key stakeholders to begin my career.
During the program, I have been fortunate enough to gain experience within a variety of divisions including Finance and Treasury, Risk, Products and Wealth. With each division vastly different, my role has been far from typical or mundane. I have been involved in a range of experiences, some include participating in asset allocation meetings within the Sandhurst Trustees investments team to working directly with the Financial Controller on a group-wide project. Most of all, my highlight has been working directly towards the introduction of the new PiggySaver Account while I was in the Products Team. Alongside these experiences, extracurricular activities beyond the general job description are also offered, including representing the Bank in the mentoring of students or working on committees within the organisation. The ability to interact on a daily basis with Senior Managers and the Executive team, not just from a work aspect but on a personal level, has provided me with continual guidance and a wealth of knowledge far beyond my studies.
Despite Bendigo and Adelaide Bank being a top 100 ASX listed company with a 6,000 strong workforce, the culture in the company is similar to that of something much smaller. You are not just a number from another large intake of graduates, but an integral part of the team who is here to help the organisation progress forward.
