Your role

ING Bank is looking for someone who has an understanding of liquidity risk and financial instruments and markets, coupled with a strong numerical academic background.  Besides the development of models and supporting analysis, you’ll be required to assist other market risk colleagues in understanding and using models and parameters, as well as any other numerical, statistical, or data-driven analyses and queries.

What are you going to do? You will be:

  • Contributing to the development, testing, and ongoing maintenance of liquidity and interest rate risk models, and related documentation to satisfy requirements of APRA prudential standard APS210, APS117, Basel III guidelines, and ING Group requirements
  • Undertaking statistical and quantitative analysis using customer and account balance data while developing an understanding of factors that impact liquidity and interest rate risk; documenting the findings in technical documentation
  • Maintaining a register of all models in use by Market Risk, ensuring these are up-to-date and well documented, and comply with ING Standards and best practice
  • Documenting structured data analysis, technical model documents, and working files created, stored, and properly maintained
  • Assisting market risk colleagues in ad-hoc queries and understanding model inputs, calculations, and output parameters

About you

Here’s what ING Bank Australia is looking for in this role:

  • Excellent programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills together with big data management
  • Basic understanding of banking products and how they work, e.g. deposits and loans
  • Good knowledge of financial instrument pricing e.g. Bond Pricing
  • Good understanding of yield curves and their use in valuations
  • Familiarity with linear/non-linear regression models
  • Data science qualification, Strong modelling skills – this is highly advantageous
