This stream is for you if you:ย ย 

  • donโ€™t have a specific professional area where youโ€™d like to work
  • have a degree that doesnโ€™t match our other streams.

In our generalist stream, you can choose to do 1 or 2 placements. Doing 2 placements is a great opportunity for you to broaden your skillset and knowledge.โ€ฏYou can tell us which business area youโ€™d like to go to for your second placement. Weโ€™ll try to accommodate your preference, butย we canโ€™tย guarantee it.ย 

Weโ€™ll place you in a role that matches your skills and experience. Once you start, youโ€™ll stay in the generalist stream for the duration of the program.ย 

Range of workย ย 

In the generalist stream, you might do any of the following:ย ย 

  • implement legislative change or new government initiatives and policy
  • analyse management information to identify trends and prepare reports
  • support major improvement initiatives for our customers
  • give support to Australians affected by national disasters
  • support major ICT, compliance, communication and service delivery projects
  • draft and coordinate Question Time, Senate Estimates and Ministerial briefs, speeches and presentations support our Minister, Chief Executive Officer and Senior Executives.

Eligibilityโ€ฏย 

To be eligible for the program, you must be an Australian citizen.

Youโ€™ll need to have successfully passed and completed:

  • an undergraduate degree within the last 5 years
  • a postgraduate degree within the last 5 years.

If you got your degree overseas, youโ€™ll need to have it recognised by the Department of Education.
