What is our Internship Program?

Our paid ten-week program is a great way to explore a career with Westpac Group and give you a taste of what it is like to work for us. It is designed to ensure that our interns get an insight into the banking and finance industry – allowing you to make an informed career decision. Whichever business area you choose, you will find a worthwhile investment of your time this summer. Plus, what could be more rewarding than the possibility to return to university with your graduate job offer in hand?

Am I Eligible?

We welcome applications from university students in their penultimate year of an undergraduate or post graduate degree that are due to complete their studies by December 2019. We also ask that all applicants hold Australian permanent residency or citizenship. The program runs for 10 weeks from December to February and talented interns will also have the opportunity to be considered for the Graduate Program in 2020.

What is Global Transaction Services?

As an Intern within Global Transaction Services, you’ll have the opportunity to actively participate in roles like product management, project management, innovation & implementation, bid management, business development and sales & client service. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different teams to build your experience and grow your network. Interns may work on projects such as:

  • Negotiating and implementing a new product
  • Servicing and managing the day-to-day needs of our multinational clients
  • Preparing for client tenders
  • Working with the GTS team to define and deliver business strategic priorities
  • Assisting with the design and implementation of innovative customer solutions
  • Reviewing and helping to embed risk and compliance controls for GTS
  • Preparing data analyses to assist business performance
  • Engaging across Westpac Institutional Bank and the broader Westpac Group in assisting on key group-wide projects
