What's your job about?

Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer. Our ambition is to be one of the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer product companies in the world. I work in the Marketing function with the responsibility of building vibrant brands that resonate with consumers.

In my role specifically, I manage the Tequila portfolio responsible for developing and executing strategic brand planning across our Tequila brands, developing advertising materials across above-the-line channels, working on new product development and innovation.

What's your background?

I grew up in Sydney, attending school in North Sydney and attending the University of Sydney, completing a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Marketing & International Business). Whilst studying at university I worked for a Marketing Analytics firm, Ebiquity, working as an advertising analyst which gave me a great understanding of advertising intelligence and media performance. I also worked at Reckitt Benckiser which was a solid introduction to the world of FMCG, working in the brand marketing team.

I joined Diageo via the Global Graduate Program and in my 5-years within the business, I have experienced a range of roles including Marketing specific roles focused on our Local Priority Brands Bundaberg Rum, UDL and Ruski. Experience in our Customer Marketing Team focused on Diageo’s Independents Customers as well as working on our luxury spirits brands across Whiskey, Gin, Vodka and Liqueurs in the Reserve & Prestige Brand Team.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Definitely! The skillset and mindset required to work in a role similar to my current position is someone that is passionate and motivated, enjoys working collaboratively and is inclusive. Any individual that embodies these characteristics would perform extremely well in a role within this business. Overall, Diageo is a very vibrant, progressive, and rewarding organisation to work for, with a diverse range of employees of all different backgrounds.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

Personally, the most exciting part of working at Diageo is the fantastic people that work in the business, making every day at work extremely enjoyable. Secondly, as the leading alcohol beverage supplier, there are several opportunities to experience some of the market-leading Spirits & Beer brands at various product launches, partnerships and events. Finally, when in the office, the company has a brilliant culture and there are multiple charity events and sporting events to take part in throughout the year.

What are the limitations of your job?

In my opinion, there are very few limitations to my current role. There is a great opportunity to take on wide responsibility within your day-to-day projects, develop an in-depth understanding of an FMCG industry-leading organisation whilst developing some long-lasting relationships with colleagues, agency partners and customers.
