LGBTQ+ at Department of Transport and Planning

DTP is committed to providing an inclusive workplace culture where our people are safe, diverse, engaged, valued and high-performing.

The department is committed to LGBTI inclusion.

DTP’s Inclusion & Diversity Strategy 2020-2023 outlines range of initiatives to support LGBTIQ+ inclusion in the workplace, including:

  • Delivery of LGBTIQ+ awareness and ally training to staff
  • Promotion of key international days for LGBTIQ+ inclusion such as International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT Day)
  • Provision of tailored assistance to staff affirming their gender in the workplace
  • An LGBTIQ+ working group which runs inclusion initiatives and events throughout the year and provides support and advocacy for LGBTIQ+ staff at DTP.

The department will be drafting an LGBTIQ+ Action Plan that sets clear goals and strategic action areas to increase the inclusion and visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse and intersex people across the department. This plan will be in line the Victorian Government’s LGBTIQ+ Strategy, due for release in 2021.

DTP has a target of 10% workforce representation of LGBTIQ+ people by 2023.
