Pros & Cons

  • The company provided several trainings, which prepared me for my job and equipped me with new skills.
  • The work environment. The people I work with provide me with the confidence to be able to excel and exceed my capabilities knowing I have the support from the company to excel.
  • Career opportunities. Whether they are cross-geographies or functions, you can tailor your career to fit your needs.
  • Field experience
  • The great diversity of project subjects I get to work on, the amazing team, and the feeling that my career is only limited by my own aspirations
  • Some people had a lot of responsibility, which required them to work longer hours.
  • Work Life Balance is difficult. Being a large international company, there is always somebody that needs something from you - it is important to draw boundaries for when you are available and when you are not.
  • Communication could be improved.
  • Schedule can sometimes be unpredictable
  • As is typical of a large organization, I sometimes feel the restrictive influence of bureaucracy or company marketing structures.

Career Prospects
There is a structured system for career progression, with formal evaluations once a year and career replanning every five years after the fix-step training ends. Normally, the criteria for the next rank are based on a structured objective list. Moves happen every 1-2 years on average.

Corporate Social Responsibility
SLB has global and local programs aligned with the ONU sustainability objectives and publishes the sustainability report on its open page. Local teams are encouraged to submit projects for evaluation and awards every year.

Culture
8.3
Culture
The culture is one of collaboration and mutual support. The growth expectations of everyone in their own careers lead to knowledge sharing and cheering for coworker achievements. Everyone is very committed. There is free communication between all levels of the company.

Diversity

Diversity
This is one of the most diverse companies I've ever seen. It's been focused on women, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ diversity for many years, and now it's focusing on inclusion beyond that. Retention objectives are cascaded to all management levels, and there is a yearly bottom-to-top evaluation done by a third party that evaluates the needed actions to maintain employee engagement and mental health safety. I've never experienced maternity leave or child care. But study leaves for up to 2 years are possible.

Satisfaction
8.2
Satisfaction
I have the pleasure and privilege of carrying out flow assurance and process engineering work on projects covering a range of subject areas such as CCS, traditional oil and gas, and new energies. This typically involves building and running simulation models in tools such as OLGA and Symmetry, report writing, document drafting in MS Visio and AutoCAD, and consulting with clients and the lovely team here at SLB.

Management
I had a really good manager or mentor. Easy to contact, always happy to give feedback. Kept work tasks engaging.

Office Work Environment
Plenty of space. Desks are available for interns. Dress is business casual, and if you are in the workshop, you will be wearing your PPE and orange coveralls.

Recruitment

Recruitment
My interview process happened overseas, and it was quite stimulating. We have interviews with HR and the managers, and a presentation needs to be done discussing a technical problem and how it was solved. I like that the team is technical (including the recruiter), and I feel they are very approachable.

Salary
As for my pay, I am satisfied with it at the moment. My main purpose is to learn and gain as much experience and knowledge as possible. From this experience, the salary will increase accordingly.

Training

Training
I've been sent multiple times overseas for technical and managerial training for every new position or responsibility I had to face. The company holds training centres with full-time instructors or brings 3rd-party instructors to these locations, and we have a chance to be immersed in the training program for a period between 4 and 16 weeks at a time
