At GMHBA, we are passionate about creating a culture of belonging for everyone.  It’s who we are.  We have created a workplace where all employees feel valued and respected, regardless of their backgrounds or identities. We know that if we nurture this sense of belonging, our people will feel empowered to strive to their fullest potential.

Here are some ways that we support our LGBTIQ+ staff:

  • Our parental leave policies are not gender specific and can be accessed by primary caregivers who are female, male or non-binary.  The gender neutrality of our policies helps to promote greater sharing of caregiving responsibilities amongst genders and thereby contributes to greater gender equity at GMHBA and in the community.
  • PRIDE Month Celebration
  • LGBTQIA+ awareness and ally training across the organization for staff and leaders. QueerTown have been engaged to deliver LGBTIQA+ workshops that have provided our staff with invaluable insights into appropriate language and pronouns, and the latest research on LGBTIQA+ experiences in Australia.  These workshops have broadened our understanding and empathy - together, our staff are creating positive change and fostering more inclusive environments.
